Once Upon a Version
Version History: Corrections and Revisions
Last revised
This page lists every correction and every substantive revision made to Once Upon a Version after a page was first published. A substantive revision is any change to a fact, a date, a quotation, an attribution, a count or a conclusion. Changes to spelling, layout or links that leave the meaning untouched are not listed.
How an entry is written
Each entry is one item in the list below, newest first. It gives the date of the change in year-month-day form, a link to the page that changed, what changed, the earlier wording and the new wording, and the source that settled the point. In outline, an entry reads date — page: what changed (was: "…"; now: "…"). Source: ….
The same entry appears on two pages on the same day: here, and in the Corrections section at the foot of the page that changed. That page's revision date, shown in its Cite this page box, moves to the date of the change.
What changes along with a correction
A fact on this site often appears in more than one place. When it is corrected, every place where it appears is changed together:
- the In short answer at the top of the article;
- the Telling card;
- side-by-side passages and their Voice tags;
- motif grids and their written-out tables;
- other tables in the article;
- the downloadable CSV files and the notes that accompany them;
- the page summary used by search engines and in shared links;
- any other page on the site that repeats the same statement.
Nothing is corrected silently, and history is not rewritten: the earlier wording stays on record in the entry, even when it was wrong.
